Solutions Through Higher Education is a coalition of students, teachers, professionals and education supporters who recognize the need to invest in higher education today for a brighter tomorrow.

Now is the time for the Solutions Coalition to engage and share with our leadership the need to preserve the viability of Arizona’s university system and ensure continued access.

Join us in sharing with our state representatives your support for the governor’s budget, the value of our universities, and the need for access for our students. Ask our leadership to support the governor’s budget proposal and seek alternate revenue sources to solve our budget gap.

The governor’s proposal has three key changes that are crucial to the future viability of the universities:

• Protects university funds from legislative sweeps;
• Protects the existing tuition and fee appropriation structure;
• Protects non-general fund monies for SPEED.

Right now, legislators are negotiating the 2010 budget and we need to ensure that our voice is heard.

• Arizona’s universities have sustained the largest cuts of any other in the nation.
• Arizona’s universities have worked to consolidate and streamline programs and adapt to budget changes, but additional cuts may result in campus closures and reduced access and financial aid for students.
• Access to higher education is critical to reviving our local economy and providing long-term job growth and economic development.
• Arizona’s universities provide for a higher quality of life for our children and grandchildren
