While total financial aid awarded to state university students has increased in recent years, there is an increasing need for public funding for need-based financial aid to ensure access and affordability to higher education. The state currently appropriates $10 million to the Arizona Financial Aid Trust Fund for need-based aid; having grown from $2.2 million a few years ago.
